Mississippi River Recreation

Rebuilding Hall’s Island
The new park and recreated Hall’s Island will provide access to the river for paddlers and other users within a context of habitat and restored ecological function for this site. The vision includes a habitat-rich island of nearly 4.4 acres, a pebble beach, boat rental and storage for paddlers, a park-supportive cafe pavilion, and terraced gathering spaces to be programmed throughout the seasons.

Kayaking on America’s Greatest River

The Mississippi River Paddle Share is a new and exciting recreational opportunity for people who don’t own a boat, have some paddling experience, and want a safe, enjoyable, and convenient paddling experience in the heart of Minneapolis-Saint Paul in the Mississippi River’s national park.

Reserving a single or tandem kayak, paddle, and life vest is easy at rental stations located in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Depending on the route you choose, you can paddle two to seven miles downstream to a station where the equipment is returned.

Prefer to go with a guide? Join Minnesota Adventure Co. on a kayaking adventure that begins on the Minnesota River and finishes on the Mississippi in the shadow of the Saint Paul skyline.
